Very rare from 1949, a purer Bauhaus. It is also called ‘Menzel chair’. The first chipless bent plywood chair, made of 29 layers of resin-drenched plywood. The chair has no screws or any other pieces of metal.

One of the most important post-war designs of DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) - GDR(German Democratic Republic). Manufactured by Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau. The chair was never mass-produced, a maximum of 5,000 of it and more than half of it is gone.

1949年頃では非常に珍しい、バウハウスの思想を純粋に作品へと昇華した作品。“ メンツェルチェア” と呼ばれており、樹脂を塗布したプライウッドを29層重ねた、最初のチップレス曲げ合板の椅子で、この椅子にはネジなどの金属は一切使われていません。

製造はドイツ工房ヘラウ。DDR（ドイツ民主共和国）の戦後を代表するデザインのひとつとされ、この椅子は大量生産されることはなく、最大で5,000脚が生産されたが、その半分以上は現存していません。
