Authentic beautiful stool from Senufo tribe of Burkina Faso, West Africa. The stool is hand-carved from a single solid piece of indigenous wood. Slightly curved, oval-shaped seat is supported by four thick conical legs. Stool in African culture is very personal item that is said to be the seat of owner’s soul and used as a household object, in rites of passage and sacred. This type of stool is used by Senufo women when they do their washing. This is well patinated with a nice sheen from years of use. True craftmanship artifacts. Can be used as a decorative sculptural stool, small coffee table, or low side table.
Condition: In good vintage condition. Some signs of wear consistent with age and use.
