A tripod stool from Burkina Faso, West Africa. The stool is hand-carved from a single solid piece of indigenous wood. Simple and solid design. The slightly curved seat is supported by three thick legs. Stool in African culture is very personal item that is said to be the seat of owner’s soul and used as a household object, in rites of passage and sacred. The tripod stool is used by men in the community. This is well patinated with a nice sheen from years of use. True craftmanship artifacts. Can be used as a decorative sculptural stool, small coffee table, or low side table.
Condition: In good vintage condition. Some signs of wear consistent with age and use.
