A beauty of handcrafted three leg wood stool from the Hehe people of Tanzania. Exquisitely carved from a single piece of local African hardwood. The seat is considered the most important pieces of furniture in Africa. Practical daily object, ceremonial object but also object of power. It holds cultural significance regarding social ranking.

Hehe stools are generally 3 or 4 legged with a round top. Simple hand hewn form, with distinctive adze marks and worn dark patinas, signify authenticity and age.

It is an African artistry and cultural heritage that reflects the richness of tradition and culture.


Condition:

In good condition with wear commensurate with tribal use. Natural imperfections to surface.

本作は、タンザニアのヘヘ族による三本脚の木製スツール。現地の広葉樹を一木から削り出し、丁寧な手仕事によって制作されています。スツール（座）は、アフリカにおいて最も重要な家具のひとつとされ、日常的な生活道具であると同時に、儀礼具、さらには権威や力を象徴する存在でもあります。社会的地位や序列と深く結びついた、文化的意味を持つ道具です。

ヘヘ族のスツールは、一般的に三本または四本脚で、円形の座面を持ちます。 手斧による削り跡が残る素朴な造形と、使い込まれて生まれた深い色合いのパティナは、その真正性と長い時間の経過を物語っています。

本作は、アフリカの豊かな伝統と文化を今に伝える、芸術性と民俗的価値を併せ持つ作品です。


コンディション：
部族社会での使用に伴う摩耗が見られますが、概ね良好な状態です。 表面には自然素材ならではの揺らぎや不完全さが残されています。
